Inman Park is on the east side of the city and was the city's first planned community.
Inman Park contains Atlanta's best collection of residential architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Styles include Queen Anne, high-style Italianate and Romanesque mansion as well as smaller bungalows, shotguns, and foursquares.
Much restoration and new development has made this neighborhood highly desirable. Krog Street Market opened in 2014, providing this area with a variety of dining options as well as access to the belt line. Since then, the Inman Quarter section has exploded with restaurants, and newcomers including Bread & Butterfly, Beetlecat, and MF Sushi now join more established spots Sotto Sotto, Fritti and Wisteria.

Also neighboring Inman Park on the northeast side of Atlanta is Poncey-Highland, just south of Virginia-Highland. It is so named because it is near the intersection of east/west Ponce de Leon Avenue and north/southwest North Highland Avenue. It is a safe, walkable community with excellent access to downtown Atlanta.
Poncey-Highland is home of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, established in 1982, and Freedom Park, which features a bike path that runs all the way to Stone Mountain and also connects to the Atlanta Beltline's Eastside trail. Dining options are plentiful and include the recently-renovated Manuel's Tavern and 24-hour favorite Majestic Diner, along with more upscale favorites Babette's Cafe and Two Urban Licks. Or, get on the beltline and restaurant hop up and down this fantastic stretch of Atlanta.
