Yes, you can ice skate in the South. These Atlanta area rinks prove it.
Who says you can’t ice skate in the South? Not Atlantans. No matter whether you skate like a member of Team USA or you are a teeny bit unstable standing on top of two steel blades, you can add to your holiday cheer by grabbing the kids or your besties and gliding around one of these Atlanta skating rinks.
In-Town Skating
- The St. Regis Atlanta. The Astor Holiday Ice Rink opens at varying times and days through Jan. 6, 2019. So be sure to check for the days it is open, and note that it will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Day. You’ll skate inside a billowing tent under white lights. Après skating, sip hot chocolate and munch s’mores or, if you worked up a big appetite, order from a full menu. $30 per hour for adults; $18 for kids.
- Ponce City Market. Skate the Sky on the Rooftop Terrace as the city lights twinkle below. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children and includes Skyline Park admission. New this year are rink-side igloos, each with its own theme. Adults age 21 and up may reserve time to explore the igloos where they will find limited menus and bottle service. Igloo pricing is separate from skate prices. Also, remember that you can rent Skate the Sky for a daytime private party. Skate the Sky is open through Jan. 12, 2019.
- Park Tavern. Stay cozy as you skate inside the climate-controlled and covered Rink at Park Tavern. The Rink boasts an enchanted Neo-Victorian feel and design elements, charming holiday decor, fun and games, special events, seasonal signature cocktails, delicious fare and much more. Skating continues until Jan. 21, 2019. Prices range from $15 to $20 for an all-day skate on non-peak/peak season days. At 8:30 p.m., The Rink becomes an ages 16 and up venue until midnight.
- Atlantic Station. Skate the Station runs through Jan. 21, 2019. Admission to the outdoor rink is $15 adults, $12 for kids younger than 12 and seniors, $10 military.
Metro Area Skating
- Olde Town Conyers Ice Days rink is two-thirds covered so inclement weather is not a problem. Open through Feb. 24, 2019, the rink charges $10 per skater for two hours of gliding along. No need to remove your skates when you need an Ice Days Snack. Try nachos, hot dogs, hot chocolate, candy and more.
- Avalon. The Rockefeller Center-inspired ice skating rink stays open through mid-January. Costs are $18 for adults and $14 for kids younger than 10.
- Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee. The 6,000-square-foot Ice Rink in The Forest is open through Jan. 6, 2019. Exercise and fun are topped off with hot cocoa or hot apple cider. Ice Skating is complimentary for all hotel guests within the Resort Fee. The cost for non-guests to skate is $30 adults, $20 children.
