What is Neighbor In Need?
Neighbor In Need was originally started in the East Lake neighborhood by local resident Kyle Caldwell, who saw a need to help seniors and lower income residents stay in their homes. Restoring intown neighborhoods to their former glory is a beautiful thing, but not if it means displacing residents whose rising tax bills or unaffordable home repairs make remaining in their longtime homes impossible.
Enter Neighbor In Need/Mozley Park. Started by Raw Real Estate Group Team Lead Jeff Raw, its mission is to assist Mozley Park residents with emergency home repairs. Due to the presence of the BeltLine and the desire for affordable intown living, Mozley Park has become a real estate hotbed. Jeff’s team has done numerous home renovations in the past year in this neighborhood, and as both a real estate professional and licensed contractor Jeff saw a need to bring this initiative to the area. Essentially, the funds collected by NIN will pay discounted rates to community partners who will make professional repairs at no cost to the homeowner. Repairs can include heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, roofing and light construction.
Though still in the planning stages, the plan is to collect funds to begin assisting Mozley Park residents in early 2019.
